Aluminium Flat Bar

What is Aluminium Flat Bar?

Aluminium Flat Bar is a product of aluminium extrusion and can also be referred to as an Aluminium rectangular bar or a strip. It is described as a flat strip of metal with the cross-section being a rectangular shape.

6000 Series Aluminium

All of our supplied Aluminium flat bars are made from 6000 series Aluminium meaning the material is highly corrosion-resistant with added magnesium and silicon. It can also be heat treated as it has high thermal and electrical conductivity. This results in the product being lightweight and extremely durable. It is also widely recycled.

It is available a variety of pre-cut lengths and widths to buy online here

Is Aluminium Flat Bar Strong?

Aluminium is roughly 1/3 of the weight of steel, so it has a huge advantage of reducing the weight for applications as thicker parts can be used with a lower overall material weight. Ultimately aluminium can be matched pound for pound to steel, if not stronger in some instances. This does depend on the alloy and processing technique used but proves aluminium overall strength is high.

What Are Aluminium Flat Bars Used for?

Flat bars are suitable for a wide range of commercial and engineering applications where high strength, lightweight materials are required. It is ideally suited for outdoor use due to its corrosion resistance. If not anodised, aluminium will often oxidise when used outdoor, but this oxidation actually strengthens the surface of the material.
